LEWES BOWLS CLUB
The Club has a history dating back to 1922. We are a Mixed Club playing Men's,
Ladies' and Mixed matches. Members enter County and National competitions while
the Men's Section compete in the Brighton, Hove & District League.
We have a modern pavilion, opened in 1999 following destruction of the former building by fire, which has a bar and changing rooms for men, ladies and visitors. The social area easily provides table space for 6 rinks plus visitors. Touring Clubs are most welcome.
The Green is situated in the southern part of the historic town, having views over the Ouse valley to the South Downs. The green has 6 rinks and was relaid in the Autumn of 2005. There is a Public Car Park adjacent to the Green.
Visitors to the town can enjoy historic buildings such as the remains of its Norman Castle, a house owned by Anne of Cleves now containing a local museum, the ruins of a Cluniac Priory close by the Green and numerous interesting shops, restaurants and public houses. We also have a prize-winning local brewery in the town.
The seaside towns of Eastbourne (15 miles) and Brighton ( 8 miles) are within easy reach.
