HAMPDEN PARK BOWLS ASSOCIATION

Hampden Park Bowls Association is situated in the beautiful Hampden Park on the outskirts of Eastbourne.

The Park caters for all ages; there is a lake which is popular with many species of wild fowl and numerous paths to explore. Many sporting activities contribute to the popularity of the park; these include tennis, a rifle range, football and rugby and indoor as well as outdoor bowls.

The park was opened in 1902 as a gift to Eastbourne from Ratton Estates and is mentioned in the 1087 Doomsday Survey.

Hampden Park Bowling Club was founded in 1912; the Hampden Park Ladies Bowling Club was founded in 1928. Both clubs became The Hampden Park Bowling Association in 1988 when control of the clubhouse and greens was handed to the Association by the local authority. Since then the Association has made many improvements to the clubs playing and social facilities.
